The thyroid is a butterfly shaped gland that sits in the front of the lower neck. It secretes thyroid hormones which help regulate many parts of the body. We see patients for thyroid nodules. Often these are found incidentally on a scan or during routine physical exam. The great majority of nodules are benign (not serious) and can just be monitored. Thyroid cancer accounts for only a small percentage of thyroid nodules. At Family ENT, we will ultrasound your gland and if needed, perform a minimally invasive fine needle aspiration (FNA) to test the cells of the nodule.
